Through many cuts, scrapes and bruises I learned that certain things worked better for me when it came to affiliate marketing. I tried have tried a bunch of affiliate programs, but ultimately here’s what I came up with.
You should be honest as an affiliate. And you should have some integrity. From there the rest is simple. Help people out and you’ll get paid handsomely for it.
Here is the 3 step affiliate guide to cleaning up sloppy affiliate marketing. Now it’s time to get you some more sales…
Step One: Give An Honest Review
When you are promoting an affiliate offer, one of the best things to do is a review site. Give an honest review of the product you are promoting.
You should always purchase the product yourself. And have had an experience with it. I know this can get costly if you are promoting tons of stuff. One quick tip is to contact the creator of the product and ask for a free complimentary copy as you are going to be promoting it. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn’t.
On your review I like to give customers a couple of options. And I like to use a 5 star grading system. This works like a charm. Also, try to sound neutral and like an authority. Don’t make it look like you are an affiliate marketer who is salivating over getting that commssion.
Try maybe reviewing 3 products and maybe giving one a 5 star rating and the other two a 4 1/2 star rating or something like this. Then right next to the star have a link to the product with your link in there of course.
If your review is good, you usually stand a good chance of getting them to click through. From there it comes down to the sales page of the product you’re promoting to do the rest.
Adding a review component is great because it warms them up before they get to the sales page.
Step Two: Look For Competition
I think going into a niche that is competitive is good because it makes for more sales. So when you are doing your research in the various affiliate programs, it pays to go after competitive markets.
Let’s say you are on Clickbank and you are looking for a product to promote. I recommend you head on over to CBEngine and find products that are doing well. I usually like to go after products that have a high gravity. This represents the number of affiliates getting paid. This is a good thing.
Remember competition is good. All you have to do is carve out your spot and cash in.
Step Three: Market, Market, Market
Nowadays, you can market affiliate offers so many different ways that it is mind boggling. For starters I’d go with article marketing and maybe even Twitter. If you are good at pay-per click go for it.
With articles, you have to be patient. Don’t expect to get it done with just one article. But with consistent efforts – like one a day, you’ll get there in no time. It’s pretty easy to write one article a day.
Just be careful with some article directories because some don’t like you to link from your article directly to an affiliate offer.
With Twitter you can use the search feature to connect with people looking for what you’re promoting. There are also tools that automate this process.
With Twitter as with article marketing, we’re talking low cost ways to market your affiliate offers. Like I said though, there are so many ways to market your offers it’s not even funny.
Another good one and low cost way to market is video marketing. When it comes to video, YouTube is King. So just look at what videos are getting a lot of views on there as it relates to your affiliate offer. Then create a similar video. Of course you can’t copy exactly. And be sure to include your link and you’re in business.
