There are a few reasons why just about all network marketing training out there fails. Not to mention, why so many network marketers wind up with lost enthusiasm and going out of business.
To get to the bottom of it there are a few distinctions that must be noted before I get to the meat and the potatoes.
The first major distinction I want to make is between network marketing and any other form of business. Let’s say a franchise or a brick and mortar business. For one, these businesses require a huge amount of financial contributions to get in business.
This is big. It’s big for a few reasons. I always like to think of a saying one of my mentors taught me and that’s “skin in the game.” When you have skin in the game, you’re more likely to make things happen and through thick and then hang in there. It’s almost like when you put a huge deposit down on a home.
If you put your life savings into that home, chances are you’ll have more pride of ownership. Versus getting a home zero down. The zero down person is more likely to give the keys back to the bank and walk away when the going gets tough.
I mentioned this not to ruffle any feathers or anything. But I say this because network marketing is an industry where the cost of entry is so low that people find themselves bouncing from one opportunity to the next. How can you possibly be successful if you don’t give yourself a chance to succeed? No network marketing training, or any training in the world for that matter, will help you if you quit on yourself.
It’s like that house you put your life savings into. Or that franchise you scraped up $100K for. You’ve got skin in the game so you’re going to give it your all to make things work.
Now let me ask you, do you treat your network marketing opportunity like something where you put a huge investment into and want to see succeed? Or do you treat it like a freebie? I think at the core most people fail because they don’t treat their business like a true business and take pride of owning that business.
OK now that we got that out of the way it’s time for me to get into why network marketing training fails and how you can make it work for you.
Reasons #1
These trainings don’t teach real marketing. If you want to explode your business you have to learn marketing. There are no short cuts. You can’t think of your warm market as your only form of marketing. You have to have an advanced skill set to make it in this industry.
Reason #2
Most people who get into network marketing want to get rich quick. If you got lured into the business from a charismatic speaker who made you think this is easy, think again. There aren’t any quick riches or schemes that will get you a lot of cash over night. You have to put in that hard work.
Reason #3
People who get into network marketing get in to follow the guru. We are all attracted to leaders. I think deep down most people want to be lead. But if you go to training with the thought that your upline will save the day and help you make it happen, you’re dead wrong. You have to want it and make it happen by yourself. Sure you can ask for pointers here and there. But the name of the game is development. You have to develop those skill sets that will help you grow as a person and then your business will grow.
